I am running for re-election as your Redford Township Supervisor

Friends and Family,

This year is an election year, and I am making my official announcement that I am running for re-election as your Redford Township Supervisor in 2024. Since the last election I have been able to bring stability to the Township Board. This is reflected in calm at the board meetings by providing a more business-like atmosphere. This allows the board to focus on the business of the township and get things accomplished. I have been able to help the board build consensus and have positive debate on issues, sharing their thoughts and positions.

We introduced a Police Cadet Program, redesigned the website, and balanced the budget each year. I have built a better working relationship with our elected county, state, and federal officials which has brought back money into repairing township roads and removal of over 200 dead trees. It is exciting to be working together with them on a 21.5-million-dollar Recreation and Wellness Center with no tax increase for the residents and no bonds. Keeping within budget allows the Center to be completely paid for when we open the doors.

We have significant challenges ahead and I want to remain on the board to lead our township through them. In the coming weeks you will be able to follow my candidacy through social media and my re-election website. I look forward to your continued support.

Working for Redford Township,

 Pat McRae

Redford Township Supervisor

Veteran’s Day 2020

The Covid-19 virus it is going to make the holidays very different this year. Even though we have all this going on we need to take some time to remember our veterans, the ones that have passed and the ones still with us.

World War I hostilities were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. At the urging of the United States Veterans Organizations, Armistice Day was created and renamed Veterans Day in 1954.

On this day, November 11, 2020, it gives me pause to think about the veterans in my family: my Dad; US Army, my brother Merrill; US Navy, my Uncle Louis; US Air Force, my nephews Daniel; US Navy, Matthew; USMC, brothers-in-law Richard and Larry; US Army and David; US Navy and Merchant Marines. I think about all the people I know and have known in the service during my life.

I think of family we never knew that served like my wife Betsy’s cousin; John Condon. We were able to visit the American Cemetery outside of Paris, France honoring veterans from World War I and II. His remains were not there as his ship, the USS Ticonderoga, sank on September 30, 1918 off the shore of France. At the Cemetery they have a marker bearing his name,

We all have family and friends who are serving or have served in the military. So as we approach the holiday season reach out to them, give them a call and see how they are doing. Thank them for being who they are, so you could be who you are today.

This is a different kind of holiday season but our veterans still wait to hear from you.

Happy Veteran’s Day,

Pat McRae

Labor Day

IMG_3613.jpg

As a UAW retiree I think of all the Union members who came before me. They fought and many died to create Unions that provide good wages, benefits, and safe working conditions.

Peter J. McGuire, a carpenter and Labor Union Leader came up with the idea to have a holiday to celebrate Labor Unionists. He proposed the idea to the New York Central Labor Union in 1882 and on June 28, 1894 the US Congress established Labor Day as a Federal Holiday.

Labor Day is dedicated to social and economic achievements of American workers and serves as an annual tribute to contributions to the Strength, Prosperity, and Well-Being of our country.

While you are enjoying Labor Day weekend please take a moment to remember all those who made it possible to not only have a holiday but good wages, benefits, and safe working conditions.

Have a safe and Happy Labor Day.

Redford Township Supervisor Candidate Pat McRae Values Truth in Elections

IMG_0622.JPG

It’s Election Time

This election cycle has become very ugly. There are some trying to mislead with half-truths, lies and at times a sense of hate. We need to look past all of this rhetoric and find truth.

Let’s look at what the candidate has done and what their vision is for Redford Township.  I bring with me 12 years of experience on the Township Board and a working relationship, not only with township personnel but, with elected officials outside of our township. I encourage you to go to my website: www.patmcrae.com and see not only people who trust me and endorse me, you will also be able to read my position papers so you can get an idea of my plans for our future.

I promise you I will bring civility, integrity, transparency and honesty to the office of Redford Township Supervisor. Vote Pat McRae for Redford Township Supervisor on August 4, 2020.

From my family to yours, be safe and let’s build a better Redford.

Supervisor Candidate Pat McRae values Redford Township Seniors

IMG_4762.JPG

Seniors are an important part of our community. They have a lifetime of knowledge to share with all of us. We need to make sure they have, not only recreational and social activities to take part in but, opportunities to remain active and continue to feel productive.

We need to find or create programs within our school districts like the ones at Beech Elementary and Fisher Elementary where seniors can go and listen to children read. We need to work with our local groups, churches and schools to develop mentoring programs utilizing seniors.

Our senior club and senior commission do a great job. We need to make certain seniors know of these organizations and have transportation available to them. These groups need to be fully supported so they can provide recreational and educational opportunities for our seniors.
