Seniors are an important part of our community. They have a lifetime of knowledge to share with all of us. We need to make sure they have, not only recreational and social activities to take part in but, opportunities to remain active and continue to feel productive.
We need to find or create programs within our school districts like the ones at Beech Elementary and Fisher Elementary where seniors can go and listen to children read. We need to work with our local groups, churches and schools to develop mentoring programs utilizing seniors.
Our senior club and senior commission do a great job. We need to make certain seniors know of these organizations and have transportation available to them. These groups need to be fully supported so they can provide recreational and educational opportunities for our seniors.
